H&M Spanish Programs was founded in 2002 by local educators with a shared passion for language and culture. For over 20 years, we have provided engaging Spanish immersion experiences for elementary students in the Vail Valley through interactive, communication-based learning.
Our Spanish Immersion Summer Camp is designed for students entering 1st–5th grade and welcomes learners with a wide range of Spanish experience, including beginners.
Throughout the week, students are surrounded by Spanish in a way that feels natural and fun. We focus on interaction, using games, storytelling, music, movement, art, and real-life communication to help students feel comfortable and confident using the language.
Students come with a range of Spanish experience, from beginners to students in dual language programs who are more fluent. This creates a supportive environment where students learn from each other and feel comfortable participating at their own level.
Each day follows a rhythm that balances structure, creativity, and fun through a mix of whole group and small group experiences.
We begin the day with games, music, movement, and interactive lessons that reinforce vocabulary, pronunciation, and communication skills in Spanish. Campers explore daily themes through hands-on activities and collaborative learning experiences designed to build confidence using the language in meaningful ways.
In the afternoon, students participate in creative experiences such as art, storytelling, movement, and other projects that bring Spanish language and culture to life. We close the day together as a camp community, often with music and group activities.
Throughout the week, students participate in a variety of engaging activities, including:
• Games and movement-based learning
• Storytelling and role-playing
• Music and rhythm activities
• Art and creative projects
• Collaborative experiences such as movie-making
These experiences provide meaningful opportunities for students to use Spanish in authentic and engaging ways.
We believe language is best learned through experience. Our program emphasizes communication, interaction, creativity, and fun, encouraging students to use Spanish naturally and confidently in meaningful contexts.
By the end of a week filled with fun, creativity, and engaging experiences, students feel more confident, more willing to take risks, and more connected to both the language and the culture.

H&M Spanish Programs was founded in 2002 by Sebastian Melgarejo and fellow educator Jeff Hayslip, with a shared passion for language and culture and a vision of creating engaging Spanish immersion experiences for students in the Vail Valley.
Today, the program is led by Sebastian Melgarejo, a native Spanish speaker from Patagonia, Argentina, with over 20 years of experience in education and language instruction. Sebastian has worked extensively teaching Spanish to elementary students and working within the local school district.
He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Psychology, as well as a master’s degree in World Language Instruction. Sebastian continues to lead the development of the program’s curriculum, activities, and immersive learning experiences, with an emphasis on communication, creativity, cultural connection, and meaningful interaction through language.
